Privacy Policy

Lumen is a quiz-based learning app for school revision (grades 9–12, NCERT / CBSE direction). Progress and preferences are designed to stay on your device by default. This policy explains what the app stores locally, when it may use the network, and what remains disabled until you opt into a future feature.
1. Who we are
Lumen is published by gLitCh Labs. The app runs as a web build and as Capacitor mobile shells (Android / iOS). Core practice does not require creating a gLitCh Labs account.
2. Data stored on your device
Without optional cloud features, Lumen stores the following on your device only (Capacitor Preferences on native; browser localStorage on web), including:
- Display name / nickname you enter
- Selected grade, theme, onboarding state, and daily XP goal
- Practice progress — quiz sessions, answers, XP, streaks, and daily-challenge completion keyed to your device’s local calendar
- Optional profile photo you choose — resized locally (about 192×192 JPEG); it is not uploaded to gLitCh Labs servers
- Downloaded offline question packs you install in the app, when that feature is used
Clearing app storage, uninstalling, or clearing browser site data removes this local profile. Preferences includes an in-app reset that clears this device’s name, picture, preferences, XP, streaks, and quiz history after confirmation.
3. Network use
- Bundled practice: starter questions and fonts ship with the app and need no network after install for core quizzes.
- Optional question downloads: if you download additional grade or chapter packs, the app contacts our content delivery service (for example Cloudflare Workers / object storage) to fetch signed packs. That request is for content delivery and integrity checks — not for uploading your practice history.
- Demo leaderboard: rivals are labelled sample data on device. Your XP row uses locally earned XP. No personal information is sent to a leaderboard service.
4. Optional features that are prepared but not enabled by default
- Platform cloud backup: bridges for Play Games Saved Games (Android) and GameKit / iCloud saved games (iOS) exist in the codebase but remain disabled until platform accounts are configured. When enabled in a future build, backups would use those platform services under their own terms; profile photos are excluded from cloud payloads by design.
- Store purchases: if you buy grade unlocks through Apple or Google, the store handles payment. We do not receive your full payment card details. Entitlement state may be stored so the app can unlock downloaded content you paid for.
We will update this page when those features ship in a distributed build and change what is collected or transferred.
5. Data we do not collect
- No advertising SDKs or ad tracking
- No third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDKs in the current app
- No selling of learner progress or profile data to data brokers
- No requirement to create a public social account to practice
- Contacts are not required for core quizzes. Camera or photo library may be used only if you choose an optional profile picture
6. Your controls
- Change name, grade, theme, and goals in Preferences
- Remove or replace an optional profile photo
- Use Reset app in Preferences to clear this device’s local progress
- Uninstall the app or clear browser site data to remove local storage
7. Children
Lumen is aimed at secondary-school learners (about ages 15–18). It is not directed at children under 13. Do not use the app to store information about a child under 13 unless you are a parent or guardian with authority to do so. Before any future account or cloud features that collect personal data from younger learners, we will review applicable consent requirements and update this policy.
8. Changes
If we change this policy in a material way (for example enabling cloud backup, analytics, or a new content host), we will update this page and the “Last updated” date. Store privacy questionnaires (Apple App Privacy / Google Play Data safety) should stay aligned with this policy for the build you install.
