AURA is a Vedic astrology app (birth charts, predictions, compatibility, and a public Tamil Nadu–oriented calendar). This policy explains what data the app handles, where it is processed, and the controls available to you.
1. Who we are
AURA is published by gLitCh Labs. The mobile apps (Android / iOS) and optional web client connect to the AURA API operated by gLitCh Labs (currently hosted on Fly.io). Desktop / self-hosted deployments may run the same software entirely on your own machine.
2. Data you provide
Depending on features you use, AURA may process:
- Birth details you enter (date, time, and place of birth) to cast charts and generate readings
- Names or labels you assign to saved horoscope profiles
- Place-search queries when you look up a birth location (offline gazetteer first; optional online lookup below)
- Compatibility (Porutham) inputs for two charts you choose to compare
- Optional purchase / entitlement state if you buy a product through the store or billing flow (handled by the store / payment provider; we do not store your full payment card details)
3. Where data is stored and processed
- Hosted AURA API (default for store apps): chart calculation, predictions, saved profiles, and prediction caches are processed on our server and stored in application databases on that host (SQLite on the deployed volume). Data is associated with your app installation / client identifier used by the API, not with a public social profile.
- Self-hosted / local installs: the same data can remain entirely on your computer if you run the API yourself and point the app at it.
- The public Day / Month calendar (panchanga, muhurta, festivals) does not require a personal birth chart; it uses the place configuration of the service (Chennai / Tamil Nadu by default).
4. Optional network features you control
In Privacy settings you can enable or disable:
- Online geocoding (Nominatim): if a place is missing from the offline gazetteer, a one-time lookup may be sent to the Nominatim service and the result cached for later use. When disabled, only the offline place database is used.
- Tradition corpus citations: optional quoting from a local classical text index. First use may download an embedding model; citation text itself is generated from local content when enabled.
5. Data we do not collect
- No advertising SDKs or ad tracking
- No selling of birth or chart data to data brokers
- No requirement to create a public social account to use core chart features
- We do not ask for contacts, microphone, or camera access for core astrology features
6. Your controls
From the in-app Privacy panel you can:
- Export local / account-associated data available through the API export endpoint
- Clear the prediction cache
- Delete saved horoscope profiles
- Change the optional geocoding and citations preferences
Uninstalling the mobile app removes the app from your device. Server-side profiles and cache for a hosted deployment may remain until you delete them via Privacy controls or contact us to request deletion.
7. Children
AURA is not directed at children under 13. Do not submit birth details for a child unless you are a parent or guardian with authority to do so.
8. Changes
If we change this policy in a material way (for example new analytics, a new data processor, or a change of hosting provider), we will update this page and the “Last updated” date.
